Amtrak Empire Line: Penn Station to DV

Reverse railfan window view out the back of Amtrak Empire Service Train #235 as it starts its run at Penn Station and travels up the Empire Connection to the Empire Line on the way to Metro North territory at DV interlocking, just past the Inwood Movable Bridge

The Empire Line was the former West Side freight route down the island of Manhattan serving all the industry and docks that used to reside in the city itself. Much of the line was overbuilt with parkland on the northern end and contemporary residential towers on the southern end.

This run sees some speed restrictions across the Inwood Bridge. The train departed Penn Station about 20 minutes later after waiting for a southbound train to clear up after single tracking all the way from DV.
