100 Years of Fake Eyelashes | Allure
Take a look back at the last hundred years of women's false eyelashes. With the invention of the Kurlash being too-expensive in the 1920s, women eventually found quicker and more affordable eyelash extensions in the 1930s. In the 1950s film stars influenced a more doe-eyed look and by the 1970s women went for a less dramatic mascara from Maybelline. By the 2000s big and colorful lashes became so popular that "lash bars" opened up to meet the demand for a budding false eyelash industry.
