The chamber choir I Vocalisti stands for contemporary vocal music at the highest level. This hasn’t gone unnoticed by the great choir composers of our time, who have written several works specifically for the chamber choir. Like on their new recording “Cantate Domino Canticum Novum” that features pieces by Hugo Distler, Vytautas Miškinis and Josu Elberdin alongside new pieces that were written specifically for the choir. With compositions by Uģis Prauliņš, Hans Schanderl and Michael Ostrzyga, Hans-Joachim Lustig and I Vocalisti explore new worlds of sound: All three works have something in common – they expand the ensemble’s spectrum of sound beyond that of a mixed choir in a classical formation into the realm of overtones. On this recording, this is achieved by one of the most distinguished soloists for this particular style of singing: Anna-Maria Hefele. The pieces boast an exciting range of tonal colours and unusual turns off the beaten track. Singing these demanding pieces requires an excellent choir and an extra amount of love and passion for this wonderful music. The chamber choir I Vocalisti and their director Hans-Joachim Lustig draw from an abundance of these traits.

Der Kammerchor I Vocalisti steht für zeitgenössische Vokalmusik auf höchstem Niveau. Das ist auch den großen Chorkomponisten unserer Zeit bekannt, die dem Kammerchor zahlreiche Werke auf den Leib komponiert haben. So geschehen bei ihrer neuen CD „Cantate Domino Canticum Novum“, für die sie neben Werken von Hugo Distler, Vytautas Miškinis und Josu Elberdin auch Werke singen, die extra für den Chor komponiert wurden. Mit Kompositionen von Uģis Prauliņš, Hans Schanderl und Michael Ostrzyga erkunden Hans-Joachim Lustig und I Vocalisti neue Klangwelten: Allen drei Werken ist gemeinsam, dass sie über die Möglichkeiten eines klassisch besetzten gemischten Chores hinaus das klangliche Spektrum des Ensembles in den Obertonbereich hinein erweitern. Auf der vorliegenden Aufnahme wird dies durch eine der profiliertesten Solistinnen für diese besondere Art des Singens erreicht: Anna-Maria Hefele.
