To Baltimore; handling a gaff sail (revisited); the flying anchor set

We have some unexpected "fun" when tacking out of the South River, on our way back around to Annapolis. I purchased a Down-the-Hatch ventilator from West Marine, which really helped to keep the cabin livable during the searing summer heat, but the top batten which holds it open broke after a month of use, so I attempt a repair ... Finally we are on our way to Baltimore despite uncooperative winds. I end up sailing during the night to Rock Creek just outside Baltimore. A sailor never wastes a fair wind. I also revisit raising a gaff mainsail, this time from an aerial point of view, and explain the flying anchor set.
