S03E14 Moving Day Chickens

## 🐔🌧️ Suburban Homestead GenX – Season 3 Episode 14

### Moving Day for the Chickens, Tractor Troubles & a Journey Through the Kaibab Forest

The rain isn't stopping progress on the homestead!

In this episode of **Suburban Homestead GenX**, Jay and Jenn are racing against the clock to get the new chicken coop ready before leaving on a trip later that evening. With rain falling and work still to be done, they decide it's time for the flock to make the move into their new home.

Using a little feed and a lot of patience, Jenn successfully leads the hens into the new chicken run with surprisingly little resistance.

Jay also demonstrates how to build a simple and affordable chicken feeder using a **5-gallon Home Depot bucket** and feeder ports—an easy project for anyone raising backyard chickens.

After returning from their trip, Jay discovers the tractor battery is dead after the key was accidentally left on. Once the Kubota is jump-started, work resumes on the coop as roofing tin is transferred and installed. Meanwhile, Jenn begins moving the water system to the new run, resulting in an unexpected surprise for Jay when the hose gets turned on.

The adventure doesn't stop there. Jay compresses a scenic 35-minute drive through Arizona's **Kaibab National Forest** into a four-minute time-lapse, highlighting the dramatic changes in vegetation and elevation as the road climbs into the mountains before descending back to the plateau.

Back on the homestead, Jay finishes installing the roofing tin and finally gets the tractor running again—only to discover a flat tire waiting for him. That repair will have to wait until next week's episode.
