Sustainable Full Home Cleaning Routine | & DIY All-Purpose Cleaner

Why clean in a way that's bad for you and the planet when you can do it just as easily with products that aren't harmful to either? By cleaning with fewer, natural products that work just as well, you're doing yourself a favour, and everything around you.

I'm not a fan of cleaning so I devised a way to make it as easy as I could because why make it complicated when you can make it simple?

Cleaning sustainably doesn't mean it takes longer, requires more effort or costs more. On the contrary, it's the opposite of those. This is something anyone can do and afford. So it's definitely interesting for low-income people and is not ableist (If you can clean conventionally, then you can clean naturally)!

As with anything, cleaning will be made easier if you do it often (at least once a week).

In this full home cleaning tour, I show how I clean the kitchen, bathroom and living room. The bedroom and any other spaces are cleaned in the exact same way as the living room. Easy peasy.

DISCLAIMER: My partner also cleans the apartment. That's why I often say "we" in the video. He was just not featured in this how-to but we definitely split the tasks!

Here's a list of what I use and what for:

Pure vinegar (8%) :
1. Taps, faucets, anything chrome
2. Toilet bowl to remove limescale/mineral buildup
3. Stovetop to remove grease stains

50/50 Vinegar (8%)-Water mixture:
1. Mirrors (ideally with newspaper instead of cloth)
2. Windows (ideally with newspaper instead of cloth)
3. Oven door/anything glass
4. Shower wall tiles
NB: You could use pure vinegar, but it's not necessary here so using 50% less means you're saving even more money!

Citrus vinegar (all-purpose cleaner) in warm water:
1. Mop a stone floor
NB: You can use regular vinegar instead of the infused one. You can infuse vinegar with other things too using the same method.

Black Soap (Sub for any natural soap like Castille, Marseille,..)
1. Sinks
2. Bathtub
NB: I use my natural dish soap and black soap interchangeably. They're both soap!

Fluffy Cloth:
1. Dusting
