Rahul Backs IYC Chief Uday Bhanu Chib After Arrest | BJP Hits Back | Big Political Showdown

A massive political showdown has erupted between the Bharatiya Janata Party and the Indian National Congress over the arrest of IYC chief Uday Bhanu Chib.

Lok Sabha LoP Rahul Gandhi has strongly backed Chib and Youth Congress workers, calling them his “Babbar Sher comrades” and describing the protest as a peaceful democratic right rooted in India’s legacy. Congress chief Mallikarjun Kharge also expressed solidarity.

The BJP has countered sharply, with Shehzad Poonawalla terming the protest a “shirtless, shameless” act against national interest. BJP leader Gaurav Bhatia also responded.

Chib was arrested under multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita following the Youth Congress protest at Bharat Mandapam during the India AI Impact Summit 2026. He has been sent to four days of police custody, with the case now transferred to the Delhi Police Crime Branch. Eight arrests have been made so far.
