Come Thou Fount of Every Blessing - Lyrics with Piano

Piano sheet music for this arrangement is now available at http://www.scoreexchange.com/scores/186683.html.

Solo piano meditation on the hymn "Come Thou Fount of Every Blessing" (hymn tune "Nettleton") recorded July, 2016. Produced in Apple Logic Express 9.0 using Kontakt "Grandeur" virtual piano (Steinway D). Arrangement and recording copyright 2016 by Rick Betts.

There are a lot of variations to the lyrics for this song, and I'll leave it to others to debate which are the "right" ones. Many modernized versions abandon some of the more archaic language; I mostly stuck with older lyrics, including the "Ebenezer" lyric in the second verse. In case you don't know, this is a reference to 1 Samuel 7, verse 12. Look it up - once you know the meaning of the word it makes perfect sense in the song!

Here are the lyrics I used for the video:

Come, thou fount of every blessing,
tune my heart to sing thy grace;
streams of mercy, never ceasing,
call for songs of loudest praise.
Teach me some melodious sonnet,
sung by flaming tongues above.
Praise the mount! I'm fixed upon it
mount of God's unchanging love.

Here I raise my Ebenezer;
hither by thy help I've come;
and I hope, by thy good pleasure,
safely to arrive at home.
Jesus sought me when a stranger,
wandering from the fold of God;
he, to rescue me from danger,
interposed his precious blood.

Oh, to grace how great a debtor
daily I'm constrained to be!
Let that grace now, like a fetter,
bind my wandering heart to thee:
prone to wander, Lord, I feel it,
prone to leave the God I love;
here's my heart, O take and seal it;
seal it for thy courts above.
