Velvet Underground - South Bank Show (1986)

I was a mad fan of Siouxsie & The Banshees in the early 80s and it was through them that I discovered the VU. I bought the VU Once Upon A Time compilation - https://www.discogs.com/The-Velvet-Underground-Featuring-Lou-Reed-The-Velvet-Underground-Featuring-Lou-Reed/release/2205100 - and I was hooked. I bought all the albums, including multiple versions of the first album, and a number of books.

When they reformed in 1993, I was slow to hear the news but managed to get a ticket to the Wembley gig and, despite it being possibly the worst place in London to see a gig, it was great to see that band up on stage.

This is a great little documentary with contributions from John Cale, Sterling Morrison, Nico, Lou Reed and Mo Tucker. This has been transferred from my VHS recording. Please subscribe to receive any future uploads.

Note: I originally uploaded this a month ago and, although there were copyright claims on the music, it was allowed to be seen. This week it was banned as Polydor are not allowing the music to be used and, as you can imagine, there is a lot of music in this film. There is some nice footage over the music so I have retained most of the video and replaced all of the copyrighted music with music I have recorded myself. I had to cut the Bataclan performance even with the sound removed and the specially recorded (I think) performances by Nico and John Cale will be uploaded separately to avoid any future copyright issues. Please note that I am not a professional musician and my music was not written to accompany this film. Feel free to mute it if it disturbs you ;)
