दिल्ली उच्च न्यायालय ने जीन संवर्धित बीज (जीएम) पर दिए एक फैसले में कहा है कि कपास का बीज मुहैया कराने वाली अमेरिकी कंपनी मोनसेंटो को अपने बीज पर भारत में रॉयल्टी वसूलने का कोई हक़ नहीं है। कोर्ट ने माना कि भारत में बीज पेटेंट के दायरे में नहीं आते। विशेष के इस अंक में बात जीएम बीजों के विकास, तकनीक और इस्तेमाल पर। साथ ही बात जीएम फसलों के फायदे और नुक़सान की।
Delhi High Court has ruled that Monsanto cannot claim patents on its genetically modified (GM) cotton seeds in India. Citing an Indian law that excludes seeds from being patented, Nuziveedu Seeds Ltd (NSL) argued that the US seeds company was not eligible to claim patents and charge royalties from Indian seed companies.
