Hyperphantasia: A Guided Meditation For Seeing In Your Mind | Memory-Based Meditation
Can you experience hyperphantasia and start seeing in your mind?
I believe so, and in this guided meditation, I want to help you boost your mind's eye.
The role of mental imagery is not well understood, but it is very well-experienced. The trick is to have some guidance in paying closer attention to your experience of consciousness.
That way, you can experience visualization in many different ways.
Will this memory-based meditation help you if you have aphantasia, or just normal phantasia?
I believe so and here's why:
When I was a kid, they didn't use the term "aphantasia." They didn't even have such a thing as an aphantasia test. Instead, I was told I had "Imagination Deficit Disorder."
The consequences weren't so severe in my case because I'm a stubborn individual. I fought back and took the courses I wanted to take anyway.
But others have been held back and that's why I created this guided meditation. I want you to succeed, and much more quickly than I did.
To get the most out of this guided meditation experience, here are some suggestions:
1. It doesn't really matter if you have your eyes open or closed. You can experiment with both.
2. Do your best to link your breath with the questions I ask throughout the meditation experience.
3. Try to notice objections and then let them go. It's normal for the "monkey mind" to object, so just notice it and let it go. Use your breath.
4. Do your best to answer the questions I'm asking. You might not be used to thinking in this way, and that's fine. Give it your best and come back to it to deepen your experience. The more you work with this form of self-inquiry, the better and more nuanced results you'll get.
5. Journal about your experience. This form of self-observation will help increase your metaskills and deepen your connection to the goal of hyperphantasia.
