Le projet de la Pontiac Fiero naît en 1978. Initialement pensé pour recevoir un petit V6, la seconde crise de 79 va rapidement le réorienter vers un petit 4 cylindres qui équipera donc la Fiero. Avec une cylindrée de 2,5L tout de même, mais avec une puissance ridicule de 93 chevaux !
