Benjamin Menelik George, better known by his stage name Drizilik, originates from Freetown, Sierra Leone. He started music at the age of nineteen, having been influenced by his mentors, Kanye West, Drake and Shadow Boxxer.

Between 2012 and 2015 Drizilik dropped four mixtapes: 2 Fingers UP 1&2 , Since 1994 & Best Flow Possible. But it was the one-off single, “Pop Collar” , that propelled him into the spotlight. In 2016, Drizilik delivered his anticipated 5th mixtape, Ben 10 over 10, and gave it away for free. The critically acclaimed record earned him several awards including Best New Artist at the Inaugural National Entertainment Awards and The Next-e Young Entertainer Award.

With his album ‘Shukubly’, Drizilik sets out to be the voice of his generation. Shukubly is a metaphor for a local and global community that inspires Drizilik’s lifestyle and music.
He takes this role seriously because, as he says: “ Know wetin you want, know wetin i with, know wetin yu willing for gi fo get am.” On this 5 track offering, the artist encourages his peers to do the same.

Described as his most personal album to date, Drizilik raps about his real-life over production by the likes of Sierra Leonean producers,Solo’s Beats, Augu6tin, Bash Beatz, Nashito Kulala as well as Youtube’s own Alvin Brown, Nanzoo & Alexay Beatz.
Shukubly is a layered presentation that deals with what’s on the surface and what lies beneath. It also serves as a soundtrack to the everyday happenings of a growing social community. Having already dropped monster singles such as ‘Aw Fo Du’, Drizilik carves a new lane away from the rap of today’s radio. Instead, he cruises onto a lush, synth-led post-trap road.

Driving this new growth are tracks like ‘Aw A Lef Os’, where Drizilik addresses themes like self-confidence and the pursuit of Success. There is skillful storytelling on ‘Just In Case’, where Drizilik incorporates pockets of Krio and English to compliment a compelling narrative that includes a conversation with his girlfriend.

On ‘ Shukubly’, new collaborator, Dj Rampage, makes an appearance, displaying unexpected vocal abilities. Here, Drizilik gives an overview of a local and global community that inspires his music and lifestyle and makes an affirmation to stay dedicated to pushing forward. ‘Kona Yai’ showcases Drizilik’s knack for switching up flows and reinforces one message: Keep your nose out of other people’s business.

In 2017, Drizilik took home the Hip Hop Song Of The Year award at the Sierra Leone Elite Djs Awards for his anthemic song, ‘Di Mami I mini Fo Komot ’. He also took home that year the award for Best New Artist.
in June 2018, Drizilik was named one of Sierra Leone’s 50 most influential Youth figures.

5 mixtapes, 1 album and numerous features on some of the biggest songs on the Sierra Leone music scene, this Freetown-raised artist is ready to take his music to the world. As such, he hopes “Shukubly” will resonate with those who are willing to look beyond what is offered on the surface.
