1965 Ford Mustang - How to Remove Window Trim and Their Molding Clips with a Trim Remover Tool

Removing the window trim from a 65 Mustang can be really difficult. It actually took a while to take off the chrome window trim because although some parts of the window trim were easier to pry off, other parts were a real pain. Also it seems that whoever owned this 65 ford Mustang before me must have pried off the window trim and put extra silicone underneath the window trim. It kind of made a mess of the whole thing and made it a bit harder.

To take out the window trim you need to use a window trim remover tool. You will also need a wedge or a few wedges. You push the wedges up into the trim, but not too hard (as you don't want to bend the metal window trim at all). Then you run the window remover tool under the trim and slide it until you touch a clip. Then you pry it down a little bit, allowing the clip to remove itself from the chrome window trim.

As you loosen it further, you find that you don't even need the window trim remover tool to finish it off. As you wedge it up, you can just twist the window trim a little bit which takes it out from the clip. So technically it gets easier as you move along! Make sure to stick the window trim remover tool on the side with the actual window when sliding it underneath. This video will show an inside look at what that clip looks like, how it connects to the window trim, and how you need to pry it off.
