The Southern Upland Way (SUW) - Part 1 - Portpatrick to Dalry. Days 1-6. Solo UK Thru Hike, Scotland

This video documents my solo thru hike of the Southern Upland Way in November 2020. It was tough going, with Storm Aiden hitting hard, and temperatures dropping below zero, making for quite a heavy pack with all my winter gear.

This is Part 1, from Portpatrick, heading to Castle Kennedy with its beautiful gardens, then across to New Luce and the Beehive Bothy, with the storm hitting in full force that night, and 80mph winds ravaging the west coast of Scotland. I then make it to Bargrennan and the House 'O Hill inn/bnb/'hotel' for a fantastic meal and to shelter out of the storm. The trail then goes onwards and upwards into the depths of the Galloway Hills, to the stunning Loch Trool and Loch Dee, with the White Lagan Bothy, where I stayed overnight (again, against the storm's lashing rain). Finally, this stage goes to Clatteringshaws Loch and then climbs over and down into St Johns Town of Dalry.

This is my first video on YouTube, as I usually post on my Instagram story @benedictdepla, but there's plenty more to come as I now start my YouTube journey!

Please leave any questions and comments down below! Parts 2 and 3 to follow. Any suggestions, do let me know! Cheers!
