Watch Them Remove A Piano From An NYC Apartment In The 1960s

I made this film back in the late 60s when it was so much fun to shoot short documentaries in 16mm. A two man crew, camera and sound. Just about any subject found an interested audience because public television ran primetime hour-long TV shows presenting short stories like this one. Shoot the film in the day. Edit in a few days. Go to a sound mix. Cut the negative 16mm and send it to the lab for a print. And in just a few weeks or so, you made a movie. Any subject was of interest. I saw someone moving a piano from an apartment building in NYC and it was just amazing to watch. I contacted the company and they sent me to the family who had a nine-year-old girl who was quite good at piano. I set up the shoot with cameraman Gerry Cotts and off we went. I think the entire 16mm recording took less than an hour. Today, when just about everyone shoots video on their phone, stories like this have less interest but when you see a piano floating out of a New York City apartment building on ropes, wouldn't you stop and watch?
