My Chemical Romance, often called MCR or My Chem, is a rock band from Newark, New Jersey. The group includes lead singer Gerard Way, lead guitarist Ray Toro, rhythm guitarist Frank Iero, and bassist Mikey Way. They are known for their influence on rock music in the 2000s, especially in the pop-punk and emo genres, although they don't like being called emo. The band started in September 2001 with Gerard, Mikey, Toro, and drummer Matt Pelissier, and later Frank joined. They released their first album, "I Brought You My Bullets, You Brought Me Your Love," in 2002 with Eyeball Records. After signing with Reprise Records in the next year, they released their major-label debut, "Three Cheers for Sweet Revenge," in 2004. Pelissier left the band shortly after, and Bob Bryar took his place. The album was a big success, going platinum over a year later.
