Oil leak destroys my serpentine belt on VW CC
I neglected an oil leak from the timing cover of my 2012 VW CC TSI 2.0 and now dealing with the damage. The belt shredded and lucky it happened on an off ramp because I lost steering and everything else.
I replaced the gaskets on the timing cover and no leaks.
The belt I used was a Gates which is thinner than the duralast belt which I could not get over the lip of the alternator pulley.
With a tensioner tool, the gates slipped on with no trouble.
