New Things To Do in Garmisch Germany from Edelweiss Lodge and Resort!

On this Garmisch trip we decided to split our time staying at Edelweiss Lodge & Resort on the front end, and then we stayed at a German hotel in the city on the back end. So... what did we do? Good question. The first attraction we did was the hike to Höllentalklamm. This is another beautiful gorge located right in front of Edelweiss Lodge & Resort. In this video we go over where to park, how long it takes to get there, and our recommendations on when to climb Höllentalklamm. The hike was a little difficult going up and took nearly 2hrs, but once you get to the top, we highly recommend the Kaiserschmarrn pancake with apple sauce at the hut. After eating and drinking, walk into the Höllentalklamm gorge and take in the beautiful sights and sounds of the waterfall.

After Höllentalklamm, we went to the peaceful Pflegersee. If you want a quiet scene with very little people, I recommend grabbing some beers and relaxing around this beautiful lake. We took a row boat out and ran into the local water snakes, frogs, and giant fish :)

From the Pflegersee we went on the train (Bayerische Zugspitzbahn) from Hausberg to the Alpspitzbahn (the smaller neighboring mountain of the Zugspitze). This mountain gave us unbelievable views, great food, and terrifying hanging bridges to walk over the cliff for pictures. We continued on the train (Bayerische Zugspitzbahn) to the Eibsee, the biggest and most popular lake in the Garmisch area. We recommend renting a boat and just exploring the crystal clear waters. When you get back from the boat, go get the Steckerlfisch (grilled fish on a stick) with lemon and potato salad.

The last thing to do in Garmisch was the alpine coaster in Oberammergau which we recommend going to on your way out of Garmisch because it’s 30mins outside of the city and right near the autobahn.
