Tourmaline and Chalcopyrite in the Mysterious Abandoned Copper Belle Mine
A key operation in the Index Copper Belt, the Copper Belle Mine was a hopeful endeavor that ended bitter. In a region marked by numerous financial failures, this was perhaps one of the first major mines to shut down operations. 1909 marked the end of most production here, but a flooded, foggy, and mysterious network of tunnels remain to this day. Most of which are inaccessible to even the most dedicated explorers. Today we investigate what remains of this mine, find the ore that encapsulated prospectors 120 years ago, and look into the unseen depths of flooded mineshafts to investigate what remains a mystery.
