E- 1|Ask Joe - Answering Several Vinyl Plank Installation Questions

In this episode of Ask Joe, I answer 7 questions from the Channel.

My favorite Vinyl Plank - https://www.sothatshowyoudothat.com/flooret-modin/

1)Deb Stalker asks - What if room is not square? How do you determine the line to use as a straight line to start the rows of vinyl plank?

2)Forward Recording asks - This is a fantastic videos the only question I have is, what does it mean to work backwards? I guess I don't understand what you're doing in reverse.

3) Mary Anne St John asks - Trying to figure out where to start the first plank. The room is full of cabinets and there is not a good wall space to start.

4) ohmyhead asks - does the fastmaster glue stick work in regular hot glue guns, for example a Stanley?

5) Tom Lipinski asks - I’ve enjoyed watching a few of your videos and learned quite a bit. I will be pulling up flooring at my moms house that someone else installed that looks horrible and reinstalling.
What are your thoughts as far as consistency in layout of the butt joints? My thoughts are that they create a step pattern with the overlaps. Say taking the full length piece and dividing by three or four.
The starting piece in each row would be that length shorter then the previous row. Any suggestions would be appropriated. Thanks

6) jensongeorge100 asks - Hey Joe! Thank you for this video. i have a couple of questions for you and i hope you can help. Im going to start the planks in the hallway like you suggested,
i already have baseboards installed with a little over a qt inch of clearance from the subfloor for my planks to slide under. question is, when measuring to find the center of the hallway,
do i measure from baseboard to baseboard (which seems to me will be the most consistent) or do i go under the baseboard? question 2- from a quick check i can already tell my hallway isnt square,
so when i measure in multiple locations do i get the center of each location and then snap my chalk like using those marks? hope you can help. Thank you!

7) Lazix VonBerg asks - Hey brother, I'm staring down the barrel of a full house vinyl plank installation in my parents house. I'm fairly handy, am reasonably confident in my ability (more so after watching your videos).
What tooling would you say is mandatory? What is optional (if any)? And are there any items you think I can save money on for a one off project?
I'm a big guy , and was concerned about knee pads specifically. I noticed the ones you linked in one of your videos were about $100,
and was curious if there was a reasonably acceptable budget option or if it's one of those corners that it's absolutely not worth cutting.

Here are the links to tools I use. If you use these links I do get a commission and my family and I thank you very much for your support!
