Newsmaker Luncheon with Milwaukee County DA Kent Lovern
Kent Lovern, Milwaukee County’s newly-elected district attorney, was the featured guest at a Newsmaker Luncheon February 12, hosted by the Milwaukee Press Club and WisPolitics.
Lovern, who began his career as a criminal defense attorney in Racine, was hired in 1998 as a prosecutor for Milwaukee County by then District Attorney E. Michael McCann. In 2007, John Chisholm, who succeeded McCann, appointed Lovern a deputy district attorney and one year later promoted him to chief deputy DA. After Chisholm chose not to seek re-election in 2024, Lovern announced his candidacy and was elected district attorney in November.
Lovern took questions from a panel of journalists and from the audience at the luncheon, moderated by Milwaukee Press Club President Maryann Lazarski, journalism instructor at Marquette University. The event was held at the Newsroom Pub, 137 E. Wells St.
