The Spirit in the Quran Pt 1 - What is the Spirit of Allah

Muslims think of Islam as unitarian, that is, dealing with only one God, and no other divine beings. Al Fadi and Sam Shamoun expound on the concept of a Spirit of Allah in the Quran and brings that concept into question.

Quran 19:16-21 describes the immaculate conception of Jesus. Allah sent "our spirit", not an angel, to Mary appearing as a human man. Quran 66:12 describes in graphic detail the mechanics of the conception, breathing the spirit of Allah into Mary's private parts. This spirit creates and gives life, a function that only Allah can do.

In Quran 58:22 Allah has strengthened believers with a spirit from him, omnipresent, life-giving, strengthening, things that only Allah can do. This spirit is breathed out from Allah, not an angel, with divine attributes.
