New Toyota RAV4 meets the original RAV4

1994 was the year of Whigfield, Britpop and Pulp Fiction. It was also the year in which Toyota launched a new kind of the car to the world: the RAV4.

The original Toyota RAV4 was a vehicle that combined the go-anywhere performance and rugged stance of an SUV with compact dimensions and handling more akin to a hatchback.

The same pioneering spirit is witnessed in the current fifth-generation Toyota RAV4, a model which has opened a new era of improved performance, capability and safety.

But do these siblings, born a quarter of a century apart, share any other common traits? Paul Cowland, a man with a lifelong passion for all things automotive, drives them both to find out.
