This Baldur's Gate 3 gameplay isn't from the PAX Demo, but is from a separate recording. A lot of the Baldur’s Gate 3 features we talk about aren’t shown in the demo, but hopefully it will fill in a few gaps as we explain how height changes the battlefield, the tricks enemies will use to kill you and why one writer’s pair of companions has us excited for some old friends. If you could see any Baldur’s Gate companions return, who would they be?

As previously reported, Baldurs Gate 3 early access is coming as soon as Larian iron out the bugs, then you’ll be making your own BG3 gameplay videos. From the sound of things the early access build will evolve over time - it launches with just six classes and people hankering for Baldur’s Gate 3 multiclassing will have to wait for it. In this video we also cover how crime is handled in the game and why the Mind Flayer tadpole in your head is going to create huge drama with your party. What is Astarion the vampire spawn loses his mind? Yikes. We cover a few more details of the combat and skill checks, too - did you know the game will feature inspiration? Well, you do now.

We’ve not played it the Baldur’s Gate demo for ourselves, these are just Baldur’s Gate 3 impressions, rather than a review. But we are really impressed: the new cinematics bring characters to life, the massive environments are awesome to behold and fans of Dungeons and Dragons will get a kick out of seeing old faces, like Volo. Er, when he isn't being attacked by goblins.

As mentioned before, Baldur’s Gate 3 story sees you snatched by mind flayers and an illithid tadpole popped in your head. It’s probably going to kill you, but it also grants you extra powers. Can you resist the allure of those dark powers or should you embrace them in the name of good? Baldurs Gate 3 character creation will feature better custom characters, too, so you don’t have to use an Origins character if don’t want.

So, what is your Baldurs Gate 3 reaction? Let us know in the comments. If you’d like a more general breakdown, watch our Baldur’s Gate 3 gameplay deep dive - we explain everything in stupid detail. That’s here: https://youtu.be/IZ0LJ5BqYrk Then come back and watch this video to hear even more. And you can hear our thoughts on how we think Descent Into Avernus could influence the game. Devil deals are already confirmed, but what else did we get right? Watch and find out: https://youtu.be/AVF6kYSe7es. And if you are missing the old real time with pause combat of the earlier games, why not look at our preview of Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous - a very traditional CRPg coming out next year: https://youtu.be/5Fq-EATy0zo
