The Best Waves Ridden at Surf Lakes
Surf Lakes has put together a montage video of some of their best waves ridden at their prototype testing facility in Yeppoon, Central Queensland, Australia.
The clip highlights the wave variety, the shape, and versatility for various surf craft.
The footage was recorded during private sessions at the R&D site over the past 12 months.
This wave pool is not open to the public.
Surfers featured, in order of appearance: Dakoda Walters, Jason Blewitt, Ben Player, Mark Occhilupo, Tru Starling, Luca Doble, Connor O'Leary, Laura Enever, Jay Occhilupo, and Joel Parkinson.
Surf Lakes told SurferToday.com that the concept is still not at full-wave height yet.
The engineering team will be fine-tuning reef quality over the next two months to improve wave quality and length of the ride on the beach break.
At this stage, there are several potential sites all vying to be the first to run a public artificial wave lagoon powered by Surf Lakes.
The company is not able to reveal much due to confidentiality agreements, but they have confirmed that there is one in the United States and two in Australia in the running.
The first commercial park open to the public will commence construction in 2020 and is expected to open late in the year or early 2021.
"Our ambition is to become a leading global surf brand. And to do this we will continue to strive to ensure we have the best technology, the best business model, the largest and most waves, the best team, the best partners and the best licensees," the company states.
