Growing aloe in a cold climate: how we grow huge healthy aloe plants indoors and outdoors, natural aloe remedies for burns, skin, bug bites, pets, and everyday use.
A tropical plant probably isn’t the first thing people expect to see thriving in a cold-climate permaculture garden… but aloe has quietly become one of the most useful plants in our home. In this video, I share how we grow huge healthy aloe plants through long winters and short summers, how we harden them off for outdoor growth, and all the different ways we use aloe in everyday life. From sunburns, burns, irritated skin and bug bites to using aloe on our cat Hoshi when she wasn’t feeling well, this tropical plant has earned its place here. I also show how to avoid sun shock, why direct outdoor sunlight makes such a difference, and how even a cold-climate gardener can grow large healthy aloe plants successfully.
