THE KUBA KINGDOM! KINGDOM OF THE BAKUBA! CONGOLESE PRE-COLONIAL KINGDOMS SERIES EP2
THE KUBA KINGDOM! KINGDOM OF THE BAKUBA! CONGOLESE PRE-COLONIAL KINGDOMS SERIES EP2
Hello family!
Welcome to our second episode of the Congolese Pre-Colonial Kingdoms series! Sit back as I tell you the story of the great Kuba Kingdom. The Kuba Kingdom emerged in the early 1600’s in South-Central part of the modern-day Democratic Republic of Congo. The Kingdom’s borders were marked naturally by the Kasai river, the Sankuru river, and the Lulua river. According to archaeological findings the area was already inhabited by different waves of Bantu-speaking people since as early as the 500 BC. But between the 13th and 15th centuries, there was a big wave of Mongo-speaking people who migrated to the place from the North-Western part of the DRC. The Kingdom was founded by King Shyaam a-Mbul and it still exists today although not as sophisticated as it once was. I would like to encourage you to research more about the Kingdom as this video is not enough to describe it. As you all know, I loveee sharing Congo with you and this video is a step forward in familiarising you guys with the country. It is important that we know our history!! I hope you enjoy and I hope this video inspires you to do your part in changing the image of Africa. As always, your thoughts are welcomed, so feel free to put them down in the comments!
