Iran has ’50 days’ to hold election to replace President
Charles Darwin University Political Islam Expert Dr Nathan Franklin says Iran has “50 days” to hold an election to replace its president after his death.
Iran’s President Ebrahim Raisi has died in a helicopter crash, along with the country’s Foreign Minister, Hossein Amir-Abdollahian.
“According to the constitution, they have to have an election with 50 days if the president dies or is incapacitated or removed for whatever reason,” Dr Franklin told Sky News Australia.
