Grass Roots World Music Festival - Shohrat Tursun playing his dutar (2)
Shohrat Tursun is an internationally acclaimed musician from Uyghur East Turkistan (a remote place in between Russia and China and where the famous Silk Road passes).
I attended this festival at the Blacktown Arts Centre in Sydney on Saturday 15th June 2013. It was a tremendous event showcasing many unique artists and many different musical cultures.There were people performing music that was Ghanaian, Chilean/Latin American, Persian Fusion, Kurdish, Filipino, Uyghur East Turkistanian, Sudanese, Ethiopian styles and there was some Hip Hop in there too.Fantastic people and lots of happiness expressed.
