Dishwalla drummer George Pendergast talks new EP, his time away from the band, and having no face
George Pendergast is the original drummer for long running rock band Dishwalla. In 1996, the band earned a Billboard Award for Best Rock Song, as well as two ASCAP awards for Rock Track Of The Year in both 1996 and 1997 for their song “Counting Blue Cars,” which drove their debut album, Pet Your Friends, to sell more than one million copies. And in March of this year, that timeless song received gold certification from the Recording Industry Association of America for digital sales and streams of over 500,000 units.
Dishwalla released a new 3-song EP called Alive on May 13th via Pavement Entertainment. George sits with Dr. Music to discuss that EP, his time away from the band, his Rock Shop Academy, writing songs for films, and being in a "band without a face."
