Bilt has officially entered a new era with the launch of "Bilt 2.0," and the changes are massive. If you’ve been earning rewards on rent, you need to pay close attention because the rules shifted as of January 2026.

What is Bilt?

Bilt Rewards is a loyalty program that lets you earn high-value travel points on housing—traditionally your largest monthly expense—without the usual 3% credit card processing fees. With the 2.0 update, Bilt now supports mortgage payments and introduces Bilt Cash, a new currency that adds even more flexibility to your rewards.

The New Bilt 2.0 Card Lineup:

1️⃣ Bilt Blue Card: The $0-annual-fee "starter" card. It earns 1x Bilt Points and 4% Bilt Cash on everyday purchases, making it the simplest way to earn on rent or mortgage with no overhead.

2️⃣ Bilt Obsidian Card: For a $95 annual fee, this mid-tier card offers 3x points on your choice of Dining or Groceries annually (up to $25k spend), 2x on travel, and a $100 annual Bilt Travel hotel credit.

3️⃣ Bilt Palladium Card: The $495 premium "black card" earns 2x points on every purchase. It includes $400 in semi-annual hotel credits, $200 in annual Bilt Cash, and Priority Pass lounge access for high spenders.

How Rent & Mortgage Works Now: Housing payments are now fee-free and pulled via ACH from your linked bank account. You have two ways to earn points:

The Tiered System: Earn up to 1.25x points on housing based on your everyday spend. If your non-housing spend hits 75% of your mortgage/rent, you earn 1x points automatically.

The Bilt Cash System: Use the 4% Bilt Cash earned on daily purchases to "unlock" points. Every $30 of Bilt Cash earned allows you to earn 1x points on $1,000 of your housing bill.

How to Apply: Apply via the Bilt Rewards app or website Existing Wells Fargo Bilt members must select a new card tier by January 30, 2026, for a seamless transition before the old cards stop working on February 7.
