Okarun’s Japanese “I” Explains His Personality 【Dandadan】

In Japanese, anime characters don’t all say “I.”
Okarun from Dandadan uses the rare pronoun “Jibun” (自分) — a word that reveals a lot about his personality.
Unlike “Ore” or “Boku,” “Jibun” can sound distant, stiff, and oddly self-objective.
It fits Okarun perfectly: awkward, reserved, and bad at expressing himself directly.
There’s also a hidden connection to the legendary actor Takakura Ken — the very person Momo loves.
Japanese subtitles never explain this nuance… but Japanese fans instantly feel it.
