BMW E30 318i Wavetrac LSD, Powerflex Bushes & Rear Disc Conversion
Solving traction, braking and stability problems on @7.nth's E30 Track Build

One of the biggest areas for improvement on an older car is almost always to replace the factory bushes. Over time these rubber bushes deteriorate and allow for excessive movement and can fail. As they deteriorate they allow for the alignment of the vehicle to change under load, which can cause "sloppy" handling. To solve this we installed a full set of Powerflex Black Series bushes, these replace the factory items, reduce unwanted movement significantly and create a more precise response from behind the wheel.
Next up something @7.nth has regularly complained about is the stock open differential, especially now he is pushing the limits regularly, the stock open differential limits the speed and driveability of the E30. To solve this we installed the Wavetrac LSD which seamlessly biases power to the wheel with the most grip, allowing him to get on the power much sooner and have better control over slides as both wheels are spinning, rather than one. Whilst converting the rear drums to discs we also replaced the brake cables, master cylinder and took the opportunity to powder coat some of the original suspension components too.
Customer feedback at a recent track day "It's made the car much more taught. The bushes keep the alignment stable and stops wasted power transfer in the driveline, the beam no longer twists and the differential stays put under acceleration. The larger master cylinder and rear disc conversion make for much more stable braking and the firmer pedal allows easier modulation. It's important because the car doesnt have ABS. The differential changes the game in terms of traction, before the car would one wheel awful out of corners. Especially important when you only have 130bhp. Now it can hang with much more powerful cars on circuit as I can get on the throttle earlier and harder than ever before, the Wavetrac also allows for really easily controllable slides. Meaning that when things do get slippery I have full confidence in what the car is going to do, I can continue to push on, even in the wet."
