James Petercsak from Roland explains the differences between the SPD-SX and SPD-30 Percussion Pads
SPD-SX Percussive Sampling Pad - https://www.kraftmusic.com/brands/roland/drums/multi-pads/spd-sx
The Roland SPD-SX sampling percussion pad is the professional touring standard for triggering custom samples, loops, and even complete backing tracks. It features internal memory for loading studio-quality WAV samples, along with three powerful multi-effects engines, plus room for editing and layering your sounds. SPD-SX is equipped with nine highly sensitive rubber pads that feel great to play and trigger extremely well thanks to Roland's V-Drums triggering technology. Loaded with the latest technology and tools, SPD-SX gets the job done with speed, precision, and convenience.
SPD-SX Special Edition is identical in functionality to the original SPD-SX, but features greatly expanded onboard storage - 16 GB of internal memory for up to 50 hours of mono samples - and a striking Sparkling Red finish. The standard SPD-SX provides 2 GB for 6 hours of 16-bit/44.1 kHz mono audio.
SPD-30 Octapad - https://www.kraftmusic.com/brands/roland/drums/multi-pads/octapad
For decades, Roland has been a leader in electronic percussion technology. The original OCTAPAD was a revolutionary percussion instrument that was adopted by musicians worldwide and set the standard for future percussion pads. The OCTAPAD SPD-30 includes more than 600 drum and percussion sounds from around the world suited to cover any musical style. Arranged in 50 kits, the sounds are dynamic and expressive, and range from traditional to contemporary to exotic. You can customize the sounds with the onboard controls for tuning, muffling, attack, pitch sweep, and more. The OCTAPAD SPD-30 benefits from Roland's most advanced V-Drum triggering technology. Each pad is a separate, isolated unit, providing the ultimate in sensitivity with complete crosstalk rejection. In addition, you can connect four dual-trigger inputs, plus a hi-hat controller to create a mini drum set with external pads. The OCTAPAD SPD-30 is also compatible with Roland RT-Series acoustic drum triggers for even more flexibility.
