Britain’s plans to send some asylum-seekers to Rwanda were swiftly condemned by international humanitarian organisations after Parliament approved legislation allowing the deportation flights to begin later this year. Speaking to France 24, Wanda Wyporska of the NGO Safe Passage UK said the plan would do little to deter people smuggling or dangerous Channel crossings, but would only likely result in families being torn apart and in further suffering for those escaping conflict and persecution.
