Real Hot Rod Girl
—Rogue River, Oregon
Bonnie Honea is a hot rodder in Southern Oregon who works as the city planner of the City of Rogue River, picks up her two kids from school, and goes grocery shopping—all in the cool '37 Plymouth rat truck that she designed, helped build, and uses as her daily driver. She will be featured in an article in April 2014 in Ol' Skool Rodz magazine, Issue #64.
She isn't the blonde who drove the white '55 T-Bird in the 1956 movie Hot Rod Girl (starring Lori Nelson and Chuck Connors) and she isn't the mysterious blonde who drove the '56 T-bird in 1973's American Graffiti (That was Suzanne Somers.). And she definitely isn't the scantily clad model draped over the flashy hot rods in today's car and motorcycle magazines.
Nope, she's the real thing: a bright, contemporary woman who loves hot rods.
Starring Bonnie Honea as herself, her husband Dale, and her father-in-law J.R.
Shot on location in Rogue River and Gold Hill, Oregon, on Interstate 5, and at Del Rio Vineyards.
Bonnie's '37 Plymouth rat truck has been a favorite at Southern Oregon car shows, in particular the Ratrod-O-Rama in Grants Pass.
