Veteran politician and Democratic Alliance Federal Chairperson, Helen Zille, has expressed her astonishment and concern over what she described as an "unexpectedly low-key and cold reception" for President Cyril Ramaphosa upon his recent arrival in Washington D.C.

Zille, known for her sharp political commentary, did not mince her words during a media briefing held in Cape Town, calling the incident "symbolic of how much international regard South Africa has lost under ANC leadership.

Zille’s reaction follows widespread reports that President Ramaphosa arrived in the U.S. capital to no formal red carpet ceremony, no military honor guard, and notably, no senior U.S. officials to receive him—a glaring departure from traditional diplomatic protocol extended to visiting heads of state.
