He rushes and after believing it's a trick again, he saves her life but rejects her still, saying he does not really know who she is.

What’s the movie Mr. Deeds about?
Longfellow Deeds (Adam Sandler de Billy Madison, Big Daddy et Grown Ups), a modest restaurateur in New Hampshire, sees his life turned upside down when an uncle leaves him a financial empire valued at more than $40 billion. Not very interested in money, the kind young man agrees to spend a few days in New York City with his late uncle's right-hand men. They hope to relieve him of his shares, but Deeds is reluctant to sell, as he is interested in the philanthropic aspects of the company he inherited. On the other hand, he is seduced by the shy Babe Bennett (Winona Ryder of Beetlejuice and Edward Scissorhands), not realizing that she is actually a journalist in search of scandal. Charmed by the candor of the new multi-billionaire, Babe falls in love with him and tries to protect him.
