This video shows the Hitachi EX8000 (800tonne class) excavator in backhoe configuration double benching and loading a Hitachi EH5000 dump truck (296tonne class). The easy digging and double benching method with a backhoe allows a extremely high bucket fill factor. In this case the EX8000 loads the EH5000 in three loads with the truck filled at 324 tonnes or approximately 108 tonnes per bucket. At this rate the excavator can move more than 30 million tonnes per year including down time.
