Even the Isaac Hale (Pohoiki) beach park was on the brink of collapse! However, amidst the chaos, new black sand beaches emerged from the cooled lava fragments that were smashed into fine sand by the waves. The newest addition is the Pohoiki black sand beach that's generating a lot of buzz on the island. Fun fact: all black sand on Hawai'i's beaches was once red-hot lava!
