Oṃ maṇi padme hūṃ

is the Sanskrit mantra associated most with the four-armed Shadakshari form of Avalokiteshvara, the bodhisattva of compassion.

This mantra roughly translates to "the jewel in the lotus" and symbolizes our spiritual growth and awakening from the depth of the disillusioned world, to the realm of enlightenment.

Chanting the mantra over and over helps us to gain clarity, compassion, and dissolving our attachments and the root level. It's believed that through reciting this mantra we rise up from the muddy waters of the samsaric realm, of anger, judgments, disillusion, and greed to our true Buddha nature symbolized by a lotus flower that is pure and luminous.

We are reminded through this mantra that the source of our happiness is not outside but rather we must draw our awareness inward to become whole, realized and pure beings.
