Single-family home located in Bellcaire, Empordá, Catalonia, certified to PHI Low Energy Building standard.

This home was designed by Gemma Blanes and Marina Farró from HEM Green & Balanced Architecture and was built with the Evowall steel-frame prefabricated construction system. The Evowall system consists of a proprietary low-conductivity mortar and careful use of EPS and PIR insulation to reduce thermal bridging from structural elements. Timber window frames and low-energy argon-filled glazing make up the openings. Ventilation is provided with a Zehnder balanced mechanical ventilation system with heat recovery. Heating and cooling are handled with an air-to-air heat pump with two ducted indoor split units. An air-to-water heat pump supplies Domestic Hot Water.
