Metal Roofing Installed Above an Active Railway Line

A railway footbridge roof is assembled while trains continue moving below the structure.

The installation relies on curved galvanized steel sheets fixed directly onto a lightweight beam framework. Even at only around 0.5 mm thick, the formed radius increases panel rigidity and distributes load more evenly across the span.

Each roofing section must stay aligned during fastening to prevent deformation along the curve. The workers are not only attaching panels — they are maintaining structural continuity while balancing on narrow steel members several meters above an active rail corridor.

The engineering value here is quiet but important: geometry often replaces material thickness. A curved sheet can resist movement more effectively than a flat panel using nearly the same amount of steel.

Good tools and technology make work more enjoyable.
