Watercress Line (Mid Hants Railway) 2021 “Open Weekend”

I’m not usually in the country for the Watercress Line’s “Open Weekend”, but this year foreign travel has been off the cards due to Covid, so I took the opportunity to pay an extra visit to the line. Apart from an intensive train service, various behind the scenes locations were open for guided tours. In this video we take a look inside the carriage works and boiler shop to get some idea of the amount of work it takes to keep the trains rolling. All the stations were beautifully presented, the flower beds at Medstead and Four Marks looked particularly attractive in the late summer sunshine, a real credit to the people who look after them. We also take a look at the “Ropley Miniature Railway” including a “Driver’s Eye” view of the extended track. The Watercress Line has matured into a first class tourist attraction; please join me for a look around.
