Pope Leo XIV issued a manifesto titled “Magnifica Humanitas” (“Magnificent Humanity”), calling for limits on artificial intelligence:

“Artificial intelligence must be disarmed. I am aware that the word ‘disarmed’ is strong, but it has been chosen deliberately. Because this moment requires words capable of drawing attention, awakening consciences, and showing paths forward for humanity.”
