Another great instructional video brought to you by Paddy's DIY
In this video I’m going to show you how to replace the rollers on uPVC sliding patio door. Just bear in mind that even though the door in the video is a very popular type of uPVC sliding patio door, that not all uPVC patio doors are the same. They might use different anti-lift blocks or even different patio rollers altogether.
The patio rollers are the part of the sliding door that allows the door to slide back and forth on the patio track. Over time a combination of wear on the wheel bearings, dirt, rust and pet hair causes the wheels to seize up. This in turn stops the door from sliding freely. If you notice that your sliding patio door has become more difficult to slide, it’s most likely because the patio rollers are seized or worn. This is a really common problem on all sliding patio doors, not just on uPVC sliding patio doors.
To replace the rollers, you first need to remove the parts of the door that stop the door from being lifted. Anti-lift blocks are used to prevent burglars from lifting the door off to gain entry. Nearly every uPVC sliding patio has the in one form or another. Remove the anti-lift block and cover strips to allow you to lift the door out. Replacing the rollers is very straight forward, and is as easy as removing two screws. Follow the steps in the video for a full guide to replace the rollers.
The replacement rollers in the video are standard for this type of uPVC sliding patio door
