It has been two years since the Windrush scandal broke. It led to The UK government apologising for deportation threats made to the children of Commonwealth citizens. Despite living and working in The UK for decades, many were told they were in The UK illegally, because of a lack of official paperwork. There is also another subset of people from Commonwealth countries who lived, worked or studied in The UK before 1973, who did not take up the offer of indefinite leave to remain, when the 1971 Immigration Act conferred this on them. In the following slides, we will explain how to check your eligibility and apply for the schemes.
