Chainsaw thug who chased cop in Scots street found guilty of attempted murder

Chilling footage shows the moment a chainsaw thug chased a police officer down the street.

Liridon Kastrati, 32, was found guilty of the attempted murder PC Gary Cowan on Tuesday, following a trial at the High Court in Paisley.

Kastrati brandished the weapon at the officer on Glasgow Road in the Ralston area of the Renfrewshire town on May 6, 2024.

On Monday, Kastrati was acquitted of charges of breach of the peace, stealing a car and motoring offences when the prosecution withdrew those four charges.

He was accused of the attempted murder of four officers but was found guilty of an amended charge of attempted murder in relation to one person.

Kastrati will be sentenced on December 19 at the High Court in Paisley and Judge Gallacher told him to expect a “significant penalty”.
