Deep br. Radial Nerve Ultrasound (PIN - Posterior Interosseous Nerve) Supinator Arcade part 1.
Ideally always perform a nerve area in an axial plane by using a manual trace tool and perform this as a comparative measure immediately proximal to the arcade of frohse. This is a “Technique for beginners” video - Normative values are not presented nor are abnormal case studies. Please understand this is purely to help identify the sonoanatomy of the deep radial nerve branch as it enters the Arcade of Frohse. This is a motor branch which rarely manifests in pain rather a motor deficit. Neuropathy in the form of a nerve swelling can also occur distally where the nerve exits from between the 2 supinator muscle bellies. PIN syndrome is distinct from radial tunnel syndrome in that radial tunnel is more likely to manifest in pain/sensory symptoms and RTS can occur more proximally (due to RC joint pathology or leash of Henry or the free edge of ECRB/or tear of ECRB).
